Tony Kanaan is a veteran, championship-winning driver in the sport of open-wheel racing. He currently drives the #11 car for KV Racing Technology in the IZOD IndyCar Series. A relentless competitor who has maintained a consistently high level of success over the course of his 18-year professional career, Tony has established himself as one of the best open-wheel drivers in the world and become a fan favorite all over the globe.
Tony began his racing career in Italy in 1994 before coming to the US in 1997 and winning the CART minor-league Indy Lights Championship as a rookie. He was named the 1998 CART Rookie of the Year and drove in the series for five years before moving to IndyCar in 2002. In 2004 Tony won the IndyCar Series Championship, winning three races that year and becoming the first IndyCar driver ever to complete every possible lap in a single season. He followed that up with a second-place finish in 2005 and has never finished outside the top six since, including a fifth-place finish in 2011.
In addition to his accomplishments behind the wheel, Tony is also an avid triathlete and has completed multiple Ironman 70.3 triathlons. He qualified for the 2011 Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, finishing the grueling course in under 13 hours. Tony’s remarkable commitment to physical fitness and his competitive spirit make him an exemplary ambassador for BSN®, and we look forward to helping him continue to dominate on the race track and off.
